Saturday 29 September 2018 (10:30 -16:00)
To draw is to look. It is the actual act of drawing that causes the artist to look at things, to take them apart in the mind’s eye and put them together again. A lineis not really important because it records what you have seen, but because of what it will lead you on to see. Drawing opens our eyes to the world.
This workshop is not about How to draw, but rather: How to start drawing. As children we draw incessantly, but then we become self-critical and, mostly, we stop. The one day workshop will introduce ways of overcoming this block, to overcome our lack of confidence and rediscover the calm focus that is at the heart of drawing.
No materials necessary. No drawing skills required.
The workshop will be conducted by Mark Price who teaches drawing at University College Dublin and Queens University Belfast. He also leads the early evening sitting meditation sessions at Shambhala Centre Dublin Mon – Thurs 6.30 – 7.30 pm.
Cost of the workshop is €60, €40 for students and unwaged.
